Trauma in relationships and its impact on children
For children, family separation can be stressful, sad, and confusing. At any age, kids and young people may feel uncertain about what life will be like, or angry at the prospect of Mum and Dad splitting up for good. This presentation will identify the transition of healing that occurs in separated families and the possible impact on children at different stages. The presentation will also identify signs and symptoms of trauma within the parent and present strategies that can be used to decrease the likelihood of emotional and psychological trauma occurring in children and young people. It takes a community to raise a child but it also takes a community to protect children and young people from trauma.
